biography

Alexander Thu Quynh is a German architect whose work bridges architectural practice, research, and teaching between Germany and Vietnam.

Educated in Germany and shaped by professional experience across

diverse project scales and phases, he has developed an approach that

views architecture as the careful transformation of existing places,

cultures and resources rather than the creation of isolated objects.

His architectural philosophy is rooted in careful observation, critical reflection and an open design process. Rather than pursuing novelty for its own sake, he seeks context-sensitive solutions that strengthen the qualities already embedded in a place. Adaptive reuse, transformation and the thoughtful integration of new interventions into existing environments form the foundation of his work.

Alongside professional practice, Alexander teaches architectural design

at the Vietnamese-German University, where he contributes to design

studios and curriculum development. He regards teaching and practice

as complementary processes driven by the same ambition:

the continuous search for the most appropriate architectural response.

By encouraging critical thinking, experimentation and dialogue, he

believes that meaningful architecture begins with asking the right

questions before proposing solutions. His research focuses on adaptive reuse, circular construction, environmental performance and the potential of mass timber for a more sustainable built environment.

overmorrow

Alexander is the founder of overmorrow, an architecture studio and platform for research, dialogue and cultural exchange.

Beyond professional practice, the studio contributes to architectural culture through research, competition juries, public lectures and  interdisciplinary events, fostering critical discourse and promoting architecture as a cultural responsibility that connects people, place and future.
